👀 Industries outside of Big Tech are looking for tech workers

Surprise! The U.S. Government and other sectors are becoming a tech talent magnet! 🏛️💻 In the past, Big Tech like Meta, Amazon, and Google were the go-to for tech whizzes. But, with hiring slowing, other industries like government, non-profit, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, and education are seizing the moment. 🌟

For instance, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs was leading the charge with 1,000+ open tech roles. Their challenge? Modernize things like benefits software and medical appointments scheduling. 💡

So, what's this mean for you? New, unexpected, and fulfilling career opportunities are on the horizon. Keep an open mind, polish those CVs, and remember: the tech world is ready for your innovation. 🌈🚀🌟

🏢 Which industries and companies should I tap into?

❤️ Non-profit: Non-profit organizations are also hiring tech workers. Many non-profit organizations are investing in technology to improve their fundraising, outreach, and impact.

  1. DoSomething - focused on motivating young people to take action on social issues

  2. Habitat for Humanity - builds and repairs homes for those in need

  3. Doctors Without Borders - provides humanitarian medical care and known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases.

🏛️ Government: The government is also hiring tech workers. Many government agencies are investing in technology to improve their operations and services to citizens.

  1. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) - independent agency of the U.S. federal government responsible for the civil space program, aeronautics research, and space research.

  2. United States Department of Defense - coordinates and supervises all agencies and functions of the U.S. government directly related to national security and the United States Armed Forces.

💰 Finance: The finance industry is one of the fastest-growing industries for tech professionals. Many financial institutions are investing in technology to improve their operations and customer experiences.

  1. Wells Fargo - a multinational financial services company

  2. Capital One - a bank holding company specializing in credit cards, auto loans, banking, and savings accounts

  3. JPMorgan Chase & Co - an American multinational financial services firm

🏭 Manufacturing: The manufacturing industry is another fast-growing industry for tech professionals. Many manufacturing companies are investing in automation and other technologies to improve their efficiency and competitiveness.

🏥 Healthcare: The healthcare industry is also a fast-growing industry for tech professionals. Many healthcare organizations are investing in technology to improve patient care and outcomes.

Overall, the demand for tech workers at non-tech companies has reportedly outstripped demand at tech firms. Software engineers, data scientists, and cybersecurity analysts are among the top requested roles within these other industries.
