A Quick Update from Offboard: WNC Hurricane Relief

This week, Offboard has been deeply involved in helping run a grassroots movement in North Carolina to support those affected by Hurricane Helene. I have family stuck in the Asheville area, and this cause is very close to my heart. Alongside a dedicated group of volunteers, we created WNC Hurricane Relief, focusing on providing rescue efforts, essential supplies, and resources to the communities in need.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

  • Supply Drives: Organizing and distributing hundreds of essential items, including food, water, baby essentials, pet food, medical supplies, power tools, batteries, etc. .

  • Volunteer Coordination: Coordinating 50+ volunteers to assist with on-the-ground efforts and logistics.

  • Community Support: Partnered with local organizations to ensure that aid reaches the most affected areas efficiently.

Did Amazon F#*@ Around and Find Out?

Amazon employees are considering leaving their jobs following CEO Andy Jassy’s new return-to-office mandate. A recent survey revealed that nearly 73% of Amazon professionals are thinking about looking for new opportunities due to the strict office return policy set to begin in January 2025. The policy has sparked dissatisfaction, especially among parents and those in Amazon’s cloud division, as workers hope for more flexibility. With discrepancies in policy enforcement across Amazon subsidiaries, morale has taken a hit, and employees are rallying for change.

Key Points:

  • Amazon’s return-to-office policy requires full-time in-office work by 2025, leading to widespread dissatisfaction.

  • 73% of Amazon professionals are considering a job switch, showing potential opportunities in the market.

  • Differences in policy enforcement among Amazon subsidiaries like One Medical (only 3 days in office) fuel employee discontent.

  • AWS has already seen a spike in resignations due to the rigid policy.
