🔥 Special Message: The Planet Needs Your Green Skills

Smoke blown into NYC from Canadian wildfires in the eastern provinces of Nova Scotia, Quebec and parts of Ontario
Canada is on course for its worst-ever wildfire season on record, with about 3.3 million hectares (8.2 million acres) burned so far this year, according official data. With climate change effects, a warmer atmosphere is more efficient at pulling moisture out of soils, a factor that increases fire risk.

🪐 The Final Frontier Needs Your Skills!

The space industry has experienced significant growth in recent years, with several key areas showing promising trends for tech professionals looking to find jobs in this sector:
Workforce Growth: The American space workforce has seen consistent growth over the last six years, reaching its highest level since 2009, with over 155,000 jobs in the private sector and an additional 45,000 jobs in NASA and space-related military personnel. There is a 1% annual growth rate in select workforce categories, despite a tight job market. The growth is most prominent in 10 U.S. states that have deep aerospace roots and are adapting to meet the needs of fast-moving space startups.
Strong Federal Spending: A significant portion of the industry's growth can be attributed to robust U.S. federal spending on civil and military space programs. NASA is requesting more than $27 billion for 2024, including $8 billion for Moon to Mars programs and the related 2024 lunar flyby of Artemis II astronauts. The Pentagon is planning to spend over $30 billion on space programs in the same year.
Healthy Investment Activity: In Q1 of 2023 alone, there were 12 space-related acquisitions/buyouts and 28 minority venture/private equity financings, which raised approximately $681 million in funds. Additionally, five public equity-related transactions raised $78 million in gross proceeds.
Spaceport Development: The demand for space launch has led to a 48% increase in the number of planned spaceports globally over the past four years (A spaceport or cosmodrome is a site for launching or receiving spacecraft). This trend highlights an expanding infrastructure for the space industry, likely leading to more opportunities in the future.
Emerging Sectors: The space industry has branched out into ten distinct sectors, including:
Satellite Launch
Space Tourism
Lunar Landing
Earth Observation
Asteroid Mining
Satellite Internet (The satellite internet sector is predicted to be a major driver of the space market in the medium-term future)
Space Research
Space Debris
Manufacturing
Deep Space Exploration
Leading Companies: The top space companies in the world offer a wide range of job opportunities, from designing and manufacturing advanced rockets and spacecraft, to developing satellite internet services, and even making space tourism possible. Below are links to each of their job boards:
