🧑💻 40% of workers will have to reskill in the next three years due to AI
“AI won’t replace people—but people who use AI will replace people who don’t.”
A study by IBM reveals that 40% of the global workforce will need to reskill within the next three years due to the implementation of AI technologies. However, the study also suggests that AI is more likely to augment roles rather than replace them. The skill sets that are becoming more critical are shifting from technical skills like STEM to people skills such as team management and adaptability.

IBM AI Report
Skills Gap Analysis
Since the start of the year, we’ve seen on average a 75% increase each month in members worldwide adding terms like “GAI,” “ChatGPT,” “Prompt Engineering,” and “Prompt Crafting,” to their [LinkedIn] profiles.
Companies are becoming well aware of the next-gen skills that they will be needing on their workforce in a world where AI is implemented in almost every corner of their business. LinkedIn’s Future of Work Report outlines the trends they’re seeing across users on their platform, and they’ve seen a 75% increase each month of AI-related terms being added to member’s profiles.
Benefits of Reskilling
While the advantages of reskilling are often framed from an organizational standpoint—emphasizing higher levels of employee engagement and reduced turnover rates—there's much to gain on the individual level too.
Investing in your own skillset can:
Propel your career objectives forward
Keep you relevant in a competitive employment landscape
Make you eligible for career advancements
Open doors to new employment opportunities
Elevate your earning potential
Foster ongoing personal growth
So How Do We Reskill for this New Future?
1. Get Certified
Certifications can demonstrate expertise in a particular area and make you more desirable as a candidate. Here are some places to get started with certifications:
Coursera - Google has a free ‘Introduction to Generative AI’ course on there that may be a good place to start.
University Certifications - You’ll find that many universities will offer online, cohort-based certification programs related to AI. One example is this one at Berkeley called ‘Artificial Intelligence: Business Strategies and Applications’. They are a bit more expensive than a Coursera course, but they will carry much more weight.
2. Start Building Something
One of, if not the best, ways to learn something is direct application of the concept. There is a vast sea of tools out there that make building with AI easier than ever. By the end of it all, you’ll have a case study that you can point at to validate your skill set. Here some ways to start building:
Zapier Interfaces - This is one of the quickest ways to get a GPT-powered tool up and running to test in front of users
Chatbase - Instead of building your own Chatbot, just connect various data sources that will serve as its unique knowledge base
BHuman - Generate a Voice or Face Clone for any use case you can imagine such as customer support, marketing campaigns and more.
3. Be In the Know with AI News & Trends
Whether they’re AI Twitter influencers, AI blogs, or AI newsletters, understanding what’s changing in the workplace will give you the leverage you need to stay relevant. Here are are some of the top AI newsletters and publications to get you started:
